Minnesota Absentee Ballot Tracker — Nov 3, 2026 General BETA

Data as of: see below
How to read thisMinnesota doesn't register voters by party, so there is no party split here: the counts show how many ballots are in, not who they are for. Minnesota updates weekly, so past cycles are matched to the nearest day. Comparisons line up 2026 with past elections at the same number of days before Election Day. Methods & sources

What the numbers say

Absentee + mail ballots accepted, cumulative

Weekly totals. 2026: civicAPI (MN SOS data). Past years: SOS press releases and news citing the SOS; hollow points = approximate as-of date. 2024 was presidential.

2026: mail vs early in person

Accepted ballots by method (civicAPI / MN SOS).

Sources & caveats

  • Weekly, not daily. The SOS updates once a week (Thursdays). 2026 points are dated by the first day the update showed up in civicAPI, so they may be a day late. Comparisons use the nearest past point within 3 days and say which day.
  • Secondary sources. The SOS site is behind a bot check. 2026 comes from civicAPI; 2018 dates are approximate (MinnPost labels weeks, not days).
  • No party registration and no race data in Minnesota's absentee statistics.

Law changes that affect comparisons

Rule changes between cycles can shift how (not just how many) people vote early. Keep these in mind when comparing to past years.

  • 2023 · HF 3 (Laws 2023, ch. 34): permanent absentee voter list, effective June 1, 2024. HF 3
  • 2023 · HF 1830 (Laws 2023, ch. 62): voting directly into a tabulator ("direct balloting", later "early voting") expanded from the last 7 days to the last 18 days before Election Day, with required weekend hours. 2022 and 2018 had the 7-day window. LWV Minnesota summary · Minn. Stat. 203B
  • Minnesota's absentee window is 46 days (unchanged): voting started Sept 18, 2026. Ballots must arrive by 8 p.m. Election Day. MN SOS: vote early by mail
